An Acrobat AI alternative for reading, not editing
Adobe Acrobat is a PDF editor (and more) with optional generative AI. PDF Lens is not an Acrobat replacement. It is a reading workspace: select, explain, search, ask, stay on the page.

If you need to fill forms, merge files, redact, sign, print-shop a PDF, or use Adobe’s ecosystem, use Acrobat. Their AI Assistant pricing is an add-on or bundle that Adobe sets; read it on adobe.com. This page only compares the reading job.
Reading vs. document operations
Acrobat’s center of gravity is the file as an object you change. PDF Lens’s center of gravity is the file as a text you understand. You cannot rearrange pages, OCR a scan, or smart-redact in PDF Lens. You can highlight a methods sentence and keep the rest of the paragraph in view.
If AI-on-PDF is what you wanted from Acrobat
- Summaries you can audit: use the summarizer workflow, not a detached abstract.
- Questions: Paper Chat with retrieved passages and [p. N] citations.
- A confusing sentence: Lens on the selection.
- Search: the box above the reader, no AI cost.
Honest gaps
No OCR. No generative edit of the PDF. No Adobe cloud review. No “PDF Spaces” across many files. 50 MB upload cap. Hosted model is economical and metered. Android exists as a wrapper around the same reader; it is not Acrobat mobile.
Price, only for us
PDF Lens Free is 10 AI actions per day. Pro is ₹299/month in India or $9.99/month elsewhere, with 2,500 actions per month and a 100/day cap, billed through Dodo on the web or Google Play in the Android app. See pricing. We do not sell unlimited AI, and we do not guess Acrobat’s current SKU on this page.
